Away to Reading in the Capital One Cup

The draw for the First round of the 2014/15 Capital One Cup has been made and we have been drawn Away to Reading.

The meeting in the Capital One Cup will be the 91st between the two clubs, our first meeting coming back in August 1920 in the Division 3 (South) with Reading winning the tie 1-0. Fast forward to August 1970 and our only meeting in the League Cup was a home tie, which we walked away with a 2-1 victory over the Royals. This will be the first game between the two clubs since we met in the old Division 3 back in March 1986, a 2-0 win for the Royals that day was one of 13 consecutive wins in their all time league win record. The Sky Bet Championship side finished 7th last season narrowly missing out on the playoffs and Nigel Adkins men will be a good test for Justin Edinburgh and the squad at the start of the 2014/15 season.

The tie will be played in the week commencing 11th August 2014 and we will keep you up to date on information regarding the game on the official Newport County website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
