Newport County Youth 1-3 Wrexham Youth

Newport County's Youth team played their first pre-season friendly this morning against Wrexham Youth at Dragon Parc in Spytty.

County started the game brightly and took the lead after just two minutes when Iwan Cartwright put the ball into the back of his own net, which made it 1-0 to County early on.

After a flurry of chances for both sides, Wrexham found an equaliser through Joe Williams on the half hour mark before Matt Hammons put them ahead three minutes before half time.

Mike Flynn made a number of changes at half time with every player getting their first minutes of the season.

The game remained at 2-1 with good chances coming in front of both goals, it was Wrexham who managed to extend their lead deep into stoppage time as Jake Doran scored in the 93rd minute to make it Newport 1-3 Wrexham with the last kick of the game.

This is the first of four pre-season games for Newport County's Youth team and next up is Swansea away on Saturday morning.
