MATCH PREVIEW: Weston Super Mare FC

Newport County travel to Weston Super Mare on Tuesday night to continue their pre-season schedule, following wins over Evesham and Cirencester.

Weston Super Mare FC

Weston Super Mare pulled off an early season shock following their pre-season friendly win over League One side Bristol City last Wednesday. The Conference South side hosted the Robins in front of a record attendance at The Woodspring Stadium (Att 1,465). The Seagulls found themselves 1-0 down following a goal from Aaron Willbraham, but within the space of eight second half minutes Dayle Grubb and Jake Mawford turned the tables on Bristol City, a lead they would hold onto. Tuesday night will see our first meeting for four years with the Seagulls with what looks like an exciting match in prospect.

Weston Super Mare XI v Bristol C: Purnell, Teale, Llewellyn, Mawford, Barnes, Jordan, McClennan, Ash, Harris, Thorne, Fiddes.

NEWPORT COUNTY AFC

County continued their pre-season schedule last Saturday with a convincing win against Cirencester. Newport looked comfortable from start to finish in a game that saw five goals from O'Connor, Howe x 2, Parker and Flynn to round of a good afternoon for the Exiles. Justin Edinburgh will be pleased having seen a total of eight goals scored in two pre-season friendlies. One of those goalscorers, trialist Mark Byrne, impressed in the first two pre-season games earning himself a contract that will see him through until January. County fans will be looking forward to seeing more of Joe Parker in a County shirt, who also performed well against Cirencester with a well crafted individual goal. Max Porter is still out with a groin injury, but Justin Edinburgh will have the opportunity to look at his first team squad in more depth in what should be a competitive friendly against Weston Super Mare.
