Just a short walk from Newport city centre, Rodney Parade sits close to the River Usk and is surrounded by residential and commercial buildings. Because of its setting, the stadium can be a little tricky to spot at first. We recommend following our directions closely and keeping an eye out for club signage on matchday.

By Train
Rodney Parade is just a short walk from Newport (Gwent) train station, making it a great option for fans arriving by train. The walk takes under 10 minutes and leads you through Newport’s vibrant city centre, with plenty to see and enjoy along the way.
Follow these simple steps from the station:
- Exit the station via Platform 1
- Cross the road and turn left towards the NCP car park
- Follow the pavement round onto the high street
- Turn right and head towards the city centre, passing great food spots like Newport Market
- Keep going straight until you reach the Iceland food store
- Take a left into Friars Walk shopping centre, where you’ll find Newport County’s main club shop
- Continue through Friars Walk until you reach John Frost Square, home to a variety of popular restaurants
- Take the stairs on your left down to the riverfront (lifts are available if needed)
- Cross the road towards the large white Newport City Footbridge
- Walk over the pedestrian bridge across the River Usk
- Once across, Rodney Parade will be directly in front of you
The stadium can be a little tucked away, so keep an eye out for signage and stewards to guide you on matchday.

We recommend using Kingsway Shopping Centre Car Park or Friars Walk Car Park, both of which are just a few minutes away.

Pre-Match - Upon Arrival
As a first-time fan, we recommend arriving at least two hours before kick-off. Wherever you travel from, you’ll likely arrive or park in Newport’s city centre, so why not kick off your matchday there before enjoying the thrills at Rodney Parade?

Friars Walk Store
Once you arrive, the first thing to do is head to our main store in Friars Walk, located HERE. While there is a shop at Rodney Parade, it’s a smaller space and doesn’t stock our full range. The Friars Walk store is much larger and offers a wider selection of products, so it’s the best place to gear up and make sure you’ve got your amber on before heading to the stadium.
You can also browse our online store HERE in advance to see what’s available and get an idea of prices.

City Centre
After you're all kitted out following your visit to our main store, Friars Walk is the perfect place to grab something to eat before heading to the stadium. While Rodney Parade offers classic stadium food like burgers and chips, options are limited.
If you're vegetarian, vegan, have allergies or intolerances, we recommend taking this opportunity to enjoy one of the many restaurants in the area before making your way to the match.
Pre-Match - Heading to the Ground
Now it’s time to head to the ground, and there’s one place you need to go first: our Matchday Marquee.
The marquee is located next to our ticket office and in-stadium store (Location HERE). If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, we recommend doing so as soon as you arrive to avoid large queues closer to kick-off. However, we strongly encourage purchasing your tickets online in advance HERE.
Here's everything you need to know about what our Matchday Marquee has to offer:

Activities with County in the Community
In partnership with County in the Community, the Matchday Marquee is a hub of family-friendly fun, designed to bring fans of all ages together before kick-off.
Take part in football-themed challenges, test your reflexes with table football, and enjoy a variety of interactive games that create a buzzing pre-match atmosphere.
Our fantastic community team leads all the activities, ensuring a warm and inclusive environment that helps build the excitement as we count down to kick-off.

Meet First Team Players
At the Matchday Marquee, you’ll have the special chance to meet members of the first team squad who aren’t playing that day. This is a fantastic opportunity to get up close and personal with the players—take photos, have a chat, and get to know your favourite Exiles off the pitch.
Players are often happy to sign autographs and pose for selfies, making this a memorable moment for supporters of all ages.

Meet Spytty the Dog
No matchday experience is complete without meeting Spytty the Dog, Newport County’s paw-some mascot. Spytty will be around the Matchday Marquee wagging tails, handing out goodies, and posing for paws-itively fun photos with fans of all ages.
His tail-wagging energy and fur-bulous antics make him the ulti-mutt crowd-pleaser, adding an extra bark of excitement to your pre-match build-up. Be sure to stop by, say hello, and fetch a memorable moment with one of the Amber Army’s most beloved characters!

Matchday Marquee Atmosphere
The Marquee is fully equipped with multiple TVs showing the early kick-off, a large bar, and plenty of fan-favourite music to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. On selected matchdays, we also invite charities and local organisations, making the space a true community hub before every game.
The Match
For first-time visitors, we highly recommend arriving at least 20 minutes before kick-off to soak up the pre-match atmosphere and easily find your turnstile and seats. For families and newcomers, the Family Stand in the East Stand (formerly Bisley) offers a friendly, welcoming spot to enjoy the game and be part of the vibrant Amber Army experience!
Here are some important in-game details to keep in mind:

The Build-up
As kick-off approaches, music will play at a lively and potentially loud volume to build excitement and atmosphere. If you or someone you’re with is sensitive to loud noises or easily overstimulated, we recommend bringing ear muffs. For information on quieter seating options, please email office@newport-county.co.uk.
About five minutes before kick-off, a claxon will sound to let fans know the players are in the tunnel. If sudden noises are difficult for you or others, please speak to a steward on arrival—they can guide you to a quieter area during this short time. After the claxon, our famous “Hi-Ho Newport County” song plays as the players walk onto the pitch. It’s a fantastic moment for newcomers and families to join in and feel part of the action.

Other Fans
Football is full of passion, and when Newport County scores, fans often react suddenly and loudly with cheers and celebration. If you or someone in your group is sensitive to loud noise or sudden movement, it is worth keeping this in mind.
For a more family-friendly atmosphere, we recommend sitting in our Family Stand within the East Stand.
If you choose to sit in other areas of the stadium, such as the terrace or near the away section, please be aware that you may hear louder chanting or occasional unpleasant language. If at any point fan behaviour makes you feel uncomfortable or upset, please speak to the nearest steward who is there to help and ensure everyone enjoys their matchday experience.

After the Match
At full time, players and staff often show their appreciation by applauding the fans and may stop for photos and autographs, particularly after a good result. While this is not guaranteed, it can be a great chance to make your day even more memorable.
To be prepared, we recommend bringing a marker pen or something you'd like signed, just in case the opportunity arises.

Get Home Safely
After the final whistle, around four to five thousand fans will be leaving Rodney Parade at the same time. If you have young children or prefer to avoid busy or crowded areas, we recommend waiting a few minutes for the majority of the crowd to disperse before making your way out.
If you're travelling by train or bus, please check departure times in advance to make sure you get home safely and stress-free.
Helpful Hints
• Check the Weather
Before leaving for the match, check the forecast and dress appropriately. Rodney Parade is an open stadium and conditions can change quickly.
• Safety for Young Children
If attending with young children, make sure they carry an emergency contact number in case you get separated. Once at your seats, point out the nearest steward so they know who to approach if needed.

Our friendly staff and volunteers are on hand throughout the ground to help with any questions. They are easy to spot, so don’t hesitate to ask.
• Dress Code
We advise avoiding wearing colours or kits of the visiting team when sitting in home areas. If you are an away fan, please book in the designated away end by contacting your club directly.
• Matchday Programme
Sellers are located around the stadium exterior before the match.

Please note that all purchases inside Rodney Parade are card only.
